I personally don’t think there is a lot to do in Townsville, but if you have an overlay there because you are going to magnetic island, then here are a few suggestions. 🙂
You can make just a one day trip to Magnetic Island if you like. Magnetic is not that big, so it is an easy one day trip and you can catch the ferry in the harbour easily.
Take a steep hike to the top of castle hill, with a beautiful view! But be aware! There are a lot of steps and we would recommend going in the morning, when the sun is not that hot… So for anyone who is not so good by foot, I would not recommend this hike!
Maybe go for a run or a walk next to the river and take a stop by the iconic town sign.
The most beloved cowboys from this city and you have to go to a match if that is possible or at least check out their merch store! Even if you are not rugby fans like us, it is still a fun time and worth a visit!
I personally don’t think that the Aquarium is that special, but it offers a turtle feeding option, which I think is pretty cool!
